Get Students Moving With
QR Code Activities
QR code activities are super easy for students to use and are fun for both teachers and students. I collaborated with a group of my peers to create an activity focusing on fourth-grade geometry. We decided to use this activity to have our students practice identifying shapes based on their properties. The standard that went along with this lesson was Standard - CC.2.3.4.A.2: Classify two-dimensional figures by the properties of their lines and angles. Using Canva, we created 8 different QR codes linking to various shapes for students to classify. Canva is an amazing tool that allows you to easily make fun and interactive activities and worksheets for students, and it has tons of templates to choose from so that if you want to make your classroom activities super cute, you can do it super quick!

Danielson Framework for Teaching
The tech tools that we created relate to Domains Two and Three of the Danielson Framework For Teaching. Domain 2 (classroom environment) is clearly seen in this activity as students are able to walk around the room and work together with peers. This helps to increase students' understanding of their surroundings and develop their skills in working with others. It also relates to Domain 3 (instruction) because using activities like this allows students to engage in learning at their own pace, which helps students to take charge of their education experience. Managing classroom behavior and managing student behavior are two elements that are very strongly developed through the use of activities like this.
Should You Try This in Your Classroom?
QR code activities are super fun, engaging, and easy activities that teachers can use to introduce a new topic (like geometry for this activity) or have a substitutes lead while the teacher is absent. QR codes allow students to learn at their own pace, and help teachers to be able to see specific areas that students are struggling with. I will definitely use this tool in my classroom to engage my students in new units and to help meet one another during the walk around.
