Domain 4: Professional Development

Domain Four is all about professional responsibilities. This section touches on some obvious aspects of being a professional, but it also hits on a few professional responsibilities that are not as commonly thought of. This section talks about reflection on teaching, participating in professional development, maintaining accurate records, and more ideas that one would easily consider to be part of the professional responsibilities of a teacher. Some of the less common ideas outlined in this domain are communicating with families, connecting with fellow educators, along with other duties. Both these common and uncommon professional responsibilities create an amazing professional presentation so that administration, parents, and other teachers see the teacher as such. Overall, this domain gives specific ideas and concepts that teachers should look at in order to see what it means to be a professional, and what they can do to show others that they are the professional that they are expected to be.
