Professional Development

Why Do We Need Professional Development?

We teach because we love to learn. That desire to share knowledge and teach others often stems from our love of learning. Sometimes as teachers, it is easy to forget that we still have things to learn. Professional Development allows us to take time out of our day, learn something new, and grow as professionals to be the best teachers we can be. I love learning about new technology and finding ways to incorporate technology into my lesson plans, so I take any opportunity that I get to learn something new. Take a look at some of the training and research that I have done to increase my skills in including technology in my students' lives.

My Professional Developement

1

Teachers and Technology

This is a research project that focuses on the amount of training teachers are provided on new technologies implemented in the classroom. Teachers should be provided with adequate technology training during professional development in order to successfully incorporate new tech into the classroom. Click on the apple to learn more!

Microsoft Certifications

I completed some courses offered by Microsoft on flipped instruction and the Beedle resource. Through these trainings I was able to learn how amazing these resources are, and I was able to develop my skills of creating lessons and assessments that are beneficial and engaging for my students.

3

Google Certification

I completed Google's Certification for Educators in order to learn more about how I can use Google's resources in my classroom to keep myself organized, create engaging lessons, and teach my students how to be good digital citizens. In this certification, I completed thirteen different modules that walked me through various aspects of Google's most beneficial resources for teachers.

I visited Grove City Area Middle School and worked with their Business Technologies teacher, Mrs. Nicole Butler, to learn more about how she is using the resources available to her to create good and capable digital citizens. Click the button below to read more about my experience!
